Acupuncture 101

Acupuncture
Movement

Acupuncture is an evidence-informed, hands-on therapy widely used for the treatment of acute and chronic pain conditions. In orthopedic acupuncture, thin, sterile needles are placed into specific points within muscles, fascia, and connective tissue to improve blood flow, release tension, and restore healthy movement patterns.

By targeting tight or dysfunctional muscle systems, acupuncture and dry needling help reduce pain, calm irritated nerves, and improve mobility. Needle stimulation increases local circulation, bringing oxygen and nutrients to injured tissues while supporting the body’s natural healing response. Fascial manipulation further helps unwind restrictions that contribute to chronic pain, stiffness, and compensatory movement patterns.

This approach is especially effective for common injuries such as neck and back pain, shoulder and hip issues, sports injuries, repetitive strain, and long-standing musculoskeletal conditions. Treatments are tailored to address both the root cause of pain and the surrounding systems that may be contributing to ongoing discomfort.
